  1. play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to find colors that you like. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family & color name, the "painted" rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. You can literally spend hours:

I think an off-white like "creamy" (# 7012) would be a good choice. Pure white would be too stark & cold.

You can also take a photo of your house & upload it to the makeover gallery on this website:

You can get color suggestions & for $5 they'll photoshop them onto your room so that you can get an idea of what it will look like.

  2. The best color that will create light in your room would be white...and use a semi-gloss or high-gloss too.  I know white can seem boring, but it will match with any type of decorating you want to do.  If you just can't do white, then any very light, pastel color...get it as close to white as you can though. Plus white will make your room look bigger.

  3. yellow is a nice warm colour.

also i have turquoise, however when i look aroundmy room and my eyes are used to it it feels bland and like a hospital. but it looks beautiful when you just walk in.

i only have one wall painted.

try a yellow feature wall opposite your window

  4. the yellow wall doesnt nessisarily have to be on the opposite side of the window...

but where the sun hits the most throughout the time your in there and want the light...

and with the other walls do a semi gloss like the other person said... doesnt have to be white... but a light color...

our guest bedroom is tan and really bright

  5. yellow is a bright color. Our living and dining room is yellow and it looks good. Easy to decorate around, etc. pale purple almost sounds like a depressing color, I think that yellow would definitely liven the room up. I would suggest going to Lowes or somewhere and getting some paint chips, try different shades,  put them up against your wall and see if it looks any better. Good luck!
