I am in college and will graduate in December. My daughter has special needs and needs to go to a special preschool. She got accepted last week, but they don't provide transportation. So, I either make her wait until I finish school, or I drop out. I am torn!

  1. were there is a will there is a way.

can she start the school after christmas break?

if she doesnt start this year does she have to be accepted all over again next year?  will they guarentee her a spot for next year?

if you can get her in no problem next year then finish your school. if there is no guarentee then your child needs to come first.  once you have a child you step back and your child is always #1.

  2. I agree with above. It is important for your education and hers, because you need an education to make sure she is taken care of, but if she has special needs, then you need to make sure she can be helped as well. Is there any family that can help you out at all?

  3. ask another parent at the school for help.  place an ad in the school office or something.  or do you have a neighbor or family member close by the school?  Just be creative and you can make arrangements, but ultimately your child comes first in everything and that is a sacrifice us parents make.

  4. Do you have anyone that can drive her to school? Or can you make arrangements with your professors or the college? You only have 4 more months to go, it would definetley be ashame  if your dropped out now.

I would do my hardest to make arrangements so that both of you are able to attend.

  5. how old is she?? also can u find soemeon to drive her??

pre-k isnt a requirement!! if u graduate in december STAY!!! you dont have that much longer and not to be mean in any kind of way but if she is special needs then she may need more learning that another children right??? so she will probably have to go to school longer and require more attention....so stay in school and when ur done she can start!! or wait till next year....my daughter was in pre-k 2 years b/cof her age ......but talk to her teacher about it!! see if there is a different program she can attend untill january?!!

dont drop out you have to provide a good future for your child!!

  6. Call around and see if there is another agency that can provide transportation. She should get this provided through your state's early intervention system for free, if she actually has a diagnosis of a disorder or delay. Call your county, state early intervention agency, social services, or the heath department. There is some one out there who can make it work! If not, can you alternate your schedule so you can drop her off, then go to class? You do need to finish to get a better job and be able to provide for her through her life, BUT these early years are important for her to get special help. .
