I recommend you to setup Google Apps for your domain.

All you need is the domain name and you let the google host your email. So you basically get a gmail account (up to 50 email addresses totally free) but with your own domain (like [e-mail] [e-mail] [e-mail]...). You also get a calendar, simple website and a lot more. And if you want to use some email client like Outlook or Thunderbird and not the gmail web app, you can. POP3 and IMAP are also supported. Check them out. This is a much better solution than any hosting company offers.
