I have a family of 6 with 2 adult drivers and a house currently worth about $500k in California. We both have good driving records and drive a total of about 6000 miles per year on one car. Two other cars are driven only a few hundred miles per year. Which insurance company can provide the best rates for home + auto insurance using suggested coverage levels?

  1. There's no one size fits all cheapest.  Some like brick houses, some like houses less than five years old, some like no youthful operators.

There's no short cut to shopping around.

And I don't believe the "a few hundred miles per year".  Your entire household, with three cars, drives less than 6500 miles.  In CA.  Nope, I really don't believe it. You'd be filling the tanks once every three months?

  2. I've gone through the similiar thing -- still a little bit painful, here is the resource help me out.http://car-insurance.easyideas4u.info/ca...

  3. Try to check this out.. I bet you can get good things out of this insurance company.

  4. Home insurance covers lots of different things. I'm not sure about California laws and regulations, so I recommend you visit a local home insurance agent. http://www.easyhomeinsuranceguide.com/Ca... They will be able to help you.

  5. Everyone wants the cheapest auto insurance. Everyone is constantly looking comparing this auto insurance provider with this one. It's almost like a parlor game, isn't it. I've done it too. If you've ever gotten a speeding ticket or have a young teenager itching to drive that you've just added to your policy or if you've been<!--involved in an accident, it can get more and more expensive, can't it? Auto insurance is too expensive. You're not alone. it's true for almost every American family. You may get your queires answered here,

The problem for discounts, however, is quality. Many ask is, "Is this cheap auto insurance worth buying? What kind of coverage do I have to sacrifice for a cheaper premium?" What is a small bi-yearly or yearly or monthly bill can become astonishingly high if you cheat on your-->deductible coverage or coverage amount. You need to therefore really search the different companies for the best, most comprehensive policy. Hope is here. There are good companies out there.

  6. You can try this company - http://carinsurance.yoll.net - I personally have their car insurance in CA.

As I know it provides cheapest rates in our area.

  7. You may find it cheaper to get car insurance with a company that specializes in auto, and then get homeowners from another company.  Some companies may offer a discount if you have home/auto both with them, but you could save more money by splitting it up.  Best to check.

  8. Try Nationwide, State farm, or Allstate. State farm is the #1 underwriter of auto insurance in the U.S. Nationwide is #2, and Allstate is #3.

All three of these companies offer discounts for insuring your autos and home.

You didn't say whether you had any youthful operators in the household.

As far as the coverage limits, you should insure your vehicles and home with the maximum personal liability limits, to protect yourselves from lawsuits. With a home valued at $500K, you also need an umbrella policy, with coverage up to $1,000,000, to increase the libility limits on your autos and home.

The reason for this is that lawyers like "deep pockets", but insurance companies would rather settle out of court.
