Which company have a monopoly. No Microsoft please?

List the monopolies with which you interact. Compare the treatment you receive from these firms with that from firms that are in more competitive markets. In your view, what are the three important implications of higher monopoly prices? Provide suitable reasons for the same. Post your answer on the discussion forum.

I am assuming this is your homework assignment, so I suggest you do your own research on and analysis of the five media conglomerates that own most of the TV, radio and newspaper outlets in the US.

Well, Microsoft has never been a monopoly. There has always been Mac, Unix, Linux, IBM's OS/2 piece of c**p.

And short of the local utility companies in this country that are monopolies because of government restrictions, there aren't any monopolies in the US.

Even with the phone and cable industry there are choices these days.

Usually hydro-electric companies have a monopoly over a certain region. However, they are government regulated so they cant s***w us all up the *** with high electricity/heating prices.

It is really hard to find an example of real monopoly. In a monopolize market the customer have only two choices: to buy or not buy the good; but in reality ever we can find a substitute of one good.

For to mention an example of monopoly we must be very specific; this is a grocery in a town located many kilometers far of other town.
