Question:

Which computer should I get?

I currently don't have one, and I've been looking into several options.

P.S. I'm an amateur photographer with a Canon Rebel XT, so it has to be able to process and edit high-res photos.

1. I would potentially buy a cheap laptop (under $500.) to bring with me on business trips etc., along with a nice desktop (around $1000.) - to come in at around $1400+tax.

2. Or I was also looking into getting a decent laptop ($800-900.) and a nice monitor that I can hook the laptop up to when I want to view any photos or movies - to come in at around $1250+tax.

3. Another option would be the Macbook and a monitor. I'm fond of this option because it's a good, portable laptop, with enough power to be my main computer (I keep to e-mail and web surfing.), but I can still hook it up to the big monitor to view photos, movies, etc.

4. Lastly, I've been looking into the iMac for $1249+tax (I'm in Canada). I love Apple computers, and the screen is sooo vivid. Now the only thing I'd miss out on would be the potential to to take a computer with me when I travel, because I can't afford to do both the iMac and a laptop - unless it's super cheap, in which case it probably isn't any good. =\

Anyways, I just wanted some help because I'm going crazy trying to weigh the options!

THANKSSS!!!! :o)

  1. I reccomend the macbook or macbook pro, but they both are pricey. Whatever you do, do not get anything with windows Vista. I had an HP with vista and one day I turned it on and All of my files were terminated. Stay away. The apple's are great. Ebay is a good place to look for a deal.

  2. you should just buy a mac laptop..

and use it even at home instead of getting a desktop:)

  3. Well in my opinion of course I would go with a mac because I use one and

those laptops or desktops are built for media. I did also have several computers with Windows vista. What do I think the definition of windows vista is? Simply a heaping pile of c**p. Yea vista is filled with bugs and I really hate it... So for browsing the net and editing photo's go with any apple mac product.

  4. the more u pay the better !

  5. well, your first question is what you need it for, if you make graphics, videos, or music, get a mac, if its just for personal use, get a pc, the desition is yours what gadgets it has, but if you play games get a pc

  6. Get a DELL.

  7. your not going to find a really really good laptop for under 500 or even 1000 but sometimes you can so go to Dell.com where you can customize you computer desktop or laptop call best buy Geek squad ask them i did and it really really helped

  8. kk u wrote way to much i didnt even read it

i would suggest either dell or hp.

    all our computers are hp

2 desktop - no one ever uses them

    and 3 laptop

my dad bought a computer for everyone

hp is the way to go

  9. Have you considered getting a refurbished macbook, or macbook pro?

the refurbished models from apple store are fully repaired, and fully inspected, comes with warranty and you can still get the extended apple warranty, also you can save 15-30% off of retail. you can save over $200 cdn off the regular price. Plus if you *have* to load windows, with the new Mac that is an option. enjoy...  otherwise look at Toshiba, but you will be saddled with the Pile o stink known as Vista.   best of luck.
