Which configuration would be faster on a macbook?

1) 2,1Ghz C2D with 4GB of ram

2) 2,4Ghz C2D with 2GB of ram

I will use it mostly for school and to surf the internet, no gaming or ripping movies or anything like that.

  1. That's a tough call, but I'd say #2 would have the edge as long as you're not doing anything intensive.

    If you go with that one, get the RAM upgrade as soon as you've saved up another $100. Two 2GB sticks are only $86 at crucial. You can just toss the Two 512MB your MacBook came with unless you can somehow find somebody who needs them


  2. Definitely the #2 one, OS X 32-Bit can only use 3GB of RAM, so the other 1GB is a waste, and as long as you aren't doing anything intense you should have no problems.
