Which conure would you get?

Question

We're looking to adopt a conure. I'm so overwhelmed with all the information on the internet about all the types and would like to know from people who have or have had them or people with experience with them.

We.....

have 3 kids (all raised with birds so they do know the "rules")

get up about 6-7am

are home all day - well I am a stay at home mom

have plenty of time to devote to training, taming,tricks, etc

I've heard green cheeks are awesome, nanday's are loud, on and on. Please give me your opinions! Thanks =)

My sister's boyfriend had a Sun conure that loved him so much, he would take it to school with him, riding on his shoulder, and he wouldnt even try to fly away. He was a very smart bird but was one day stolen right out of their aviary. Sn conures are cute and sweet, and as far as i know, rather easy to find.

I have a green cheek conure and it is the sweetest little bird I have ever owned in my life. Tamed to everyone, never flys away from me outside, and dances every time company comes over being the center of attention all the time. But you have got to get lucky to get one like this. Most of these little birds no matter how tamed you think they are, can turn on you in a split second. I was trying to get a mate for mine and this lady brought her bird over to she me and that bird took that lady's lip and hung onto it for life and that lady was so embarressed and physically hurt. It was crazy. I went to get my bird from a lady who was giving it away because the bird didn't like her blue and gold macaw. Yes they pick on other birds and they do not care what size the bird is either they have no idea they are only the size of your palm.

when I walked into the lady's house this little bird was on my shoulder in a second. Ever sinse then it is my best buddy bird I have ever owned.

So make sure the conure you end up will openly love you and everyone upon viewing it otherwise pass it up.

I have a pineapple conure(10") which is a color mutation of the green cheeks.  Mine is not very loud, but it does like to make sounds often.  The sounds are fairly quiet, but are sometimes very loud.  She is very sweet and gets along with my husband, daughter (3 years old) and me well.  She doesn't know that many tricks yet and is just starting to talk.  There are days that she bites often, but it is occasionally.  She is very affectionate and want to be with us all the time.

all conures are loud, i have a nanday and a blue crown-they have different personalities but share the volume control problems-suns are some of the best b/c size limits some of its volume-cherry heads are very economical-check your local laws some places banned nandays, cherry heads, and other larger conures

I had two suns, but my female died of old age. they are beautiful birds.
