Which cordless phone is better??

Question

Which type of phone is better...5.8 GHz or 6.0 DECT??

I am buying my parents their Christmas present but I am not sure which one to look for...if anyone has any suggestions I would really appreciate it!!

my answer is DECT is the best available, and panasonic is the brand to go with..

my reasons for this answer...

the LOWER the frequency, the better the range, and battery life.

DECT phones operate at 1.9Ghz and this frequency has been dedicated for exclusive use by cordless telephones.

5.8Ghz phones were just a "quick fix" IMO for the fact that 2.4Ghz phones were getting too much interference problems with wifi and other electronic devices within the same range, as 2.4Ghz phones (minus any conflicts with wifi) are superior to 5.8ghz phones in terms of battery life, and range.

I would go with a 5.8 panasonic. They seem to be very clear and  have great battery life plus the work very well with VOIP.

I prefer  Panasonic 5.8 GHz. You can try Panasonic  KXTG6072B. It is a solid phone with a good feature set and some very nice convenience features added in. A decent deal for it is only $95.

6.0 is ok but i would look for a 5.8 fhdss. thats going to be the best connection you can get. basically what the fhdss means frequency hopping digital spread spectrum. and all that mumbo jumbo means its going to skip across all the different connections possible to find the best one, that means no static or that icky stuff. my personal favorite brand is panasonic but unidens are also very good. i would stay away from vtech, ge and att. they work well for the first few months and then they c**p out.
