Which costs more????

Question

Actually I got two questions for alll of you:

1) I want to know that which fetches more electricity power?

a) Desktop Computer.

b) Laptop

If both the above two things runs for equal duration of time, then which will consume more electricity and will result in higher electricity bill?

2) Secondly, I have to develop a Final year project. Iam doing BCA and I have to develop my project in vb.net. I only want suggestions regarding the topic. I mean can anyone suggets me some good topics to develop my project in vb.net?

well it really depends on how big the power supply is in the desktop.  The main energy hog is the moitior, a desktop at rest with the monitior off uses very little power.  In most cases if you close your laptop lid the laptop will use less power.  with the screens left on its anyones guess since some laptop screens are suprisingly inefficient and some desktop ones are efficient, but mostlikly the desktop would still consume more.  With the screans turned off your talkign baout pennys a day to run them.  If your really worried about electric consider useing stand-by or hibernation.  also when you unplugg a leptop and run down its battery, the laptop may use up to 600w while recharging the battory.

The Desktop Computer will obviously fetch you a by far larger electricity bill as compared to a notebook. As for the VB.net projects you might consider building up a Scientific Calculator on VB (one that works with the Complex Objects as well) or even a Bank Database System in collaboration with an SQL. laptops are good but there slow,l and you have to charge them alot,

the good side is that you can take it wherever you want

The Desktop will use more power. Laptops are much more energy efficient and they just require a lot less.

Laptops requires less energy for it powers off and can reboot at anytime and uses sleep mode often if you have your settings right desktops require being on all the time if you are in the middle of something and aren't as mobile (obviously) and cannot be on while unplugged.
