  1. Its illegal and banned in the other countries away from some in the African continent...

    Stop the ivory trade kills elephants ! buy imitation is real nice and no blood in it!

    "Botswana, Namibia, and South Africa were found to have sufficient controls in place to oversee the trade and adequately monitor their elephant populations. These three countries will be allowed one - off sales of 20, 10, and 30 tons of ivory, respectively, once certain conditions are met and sufficient time has been allowed for collection of baseline data on elephant population and poaching levels."

    From looking at several web sites about ivory trading, it seems that several other countries have, in the past, been allowed one-time trades or sales.  You'll need to follow the link yourself to see the whole story.
