Which country contributed the most to the defeated of Germany? Why? In what ways?

Although many countries of Europe and the British Empire contributed massively to the victory, the efforts of the United States and the Soviet Union are outstanding. The Soviet Union's resistance forced Hitler into a war on his Eastern and Western fronts - thus splitting his resources. If contribution is measured in terms of lives lost, the Soviet Union would win hands down;  but without the United States' economic and military strength there could have been no "D Day" and no total defeat of n**i Germany.
