  1. i wouldnt believe her she got the info from wikipedia

most of the info is wrong

henry ford used it to power the model-t

i dont think he was the first to use it though

  2. ethanol is alcohol, and it has been made by man for thousands of years, and drunk by the millions of gallons, as a fuel who knows it has heated lamps and other things for thousands of years as well.

  3. I know this isn't an answer to the ethanol question, but did you know Rudolph Diesel intended for his engine to run on peanut oil?  I saw a TV special that mentioned this. They started using petroleum to run the Diesel engine because petroleum was so cheap and available in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

  4. Ethanol is basically grain alcohol, the intoxicating ingredient in wine, beer, whiskey, etc.

  5. American inventor Samuel Morey experimented with an internal combustion engine back in 1826, it was powered by ethanol and turpentine. However it was largely ignored because of the success of steam powered engines. So I guess you can say America.

A German inventor Nicolaus Otto also experimented with an internal combustion engine powered by ethanol in 1860. That was around the time petroleum products were discovered in Pennsylvania. Kerosene was what they were after, believe it or not gasoline was a byproduct thought to be useless on account of volatility, it was usually burned off during the refinement process.
