  1. This is what www.ancestry.com has to say about the name,

    Rodgers Name Meaning and History

Scottish, northern Irish, and northern English: patronymic from the personal name Roger

    hope this helps.

  2. RoDgers is a Jewish name. The origin can be Eastern Europe since that's where most of the Jewish scattered to; however, it could be elsewhere also.

I believe you are confusing the surname RoGers with RoDgers, perhaps.

  3. Definition: 1) A patronymic name derived from the given name Roger, meaning "son of Roger." Roger means "famous spear" from the Germanic elements hrod "fame" and ger "spear." 2) Possibly a modern form of the ancient Irish name "O'Ruadhraigh."

    Surname Origin: English, French

Alternate Surname Spellings: RODGERS, ROGERSON, ROGER, ROGARS

    From the website, http://www.houseofnames.com/xq/asp.c/qx/...

It says the name was "first found in Cornwall (England) where they were seated from early times and their first records appeared on the early census rolls taken by the early Kings of Brittain to determine the rate of taxation of their subjects."

Also list famous people by that surname; of course, I would think of Roy Rogers, but there was also a Rogers that came over on the Mayflower.
