  1. Iraq

    then Egypt

    Next India

  2. Iraq was not yet a Civilization- they didn't have a common language, common currency, common script.

Now Egypt had all these attributes & the Pharoah's daughter saved Moses so it has to be Egypt

  3. Mesopotamia, although some claim that there may have been an older civilization in the area of today's China.

  4. no one can be absolutely sure which is the oldest civilization. This is mostly because people cannot agree on the definition of the word "civilization". The most common definition of civilization is “an advanced state of development in human society, marked by progress in the arts and sciences, the extensive use of writing, and complex political and social institutions.” Essentially, Mesopotamia is the most decided upon answer to your question, based on archeological evidence.

  5. Get a life!.

  6. look up Mesopotamia in google and find out what country its in i guess cuz i forget, or google it

why do people come here before google??

  7. dumb question, the oldest civs didnt have countries, but they most likely originate from africa or the mideast.

  8. The Aborigines in Australia? Perhaps an Amazonian tribe or the cultures on Easter Island? I've heard that it is potentially the decedents of early Inuits.

  9. Iraq - Ur - between the tigris and the Euphrates rivers.

  10. Depends on how you define civilization.   Certainly all the little city states on the Med. way back when would be a type of organized civilization.     India may have had the first civilizations as many languages are defined as originating from there.

  11. The oldest recorded civilisation is that of Sumeria - not 'Mesopotamia' of which Sumeria was just part. They had writing - cunieform script and were sophisticated astronomers.

  12. China

  13. cant say until we find out who built Stonehenge and who did the mountain markings at Nazca Peru

  14. Iraq

  15. Brighton! they are all ancient there.

  16. Mesopotamia.

  17. Define civilisation.!!!...a formory..is a civilisation..so are trogladites.....

  18. Sumeria is often claimed to be the oldest, but I don't know how possible it is to be absolutely certain of that.  If it was the first, Egypt wasn't far behind.

  19. Mesopotamia - The Sumerians were the first truly advanced people, from 3300BC they invented Writing, the Wheel, Mathematics, Astrology, Astronomy, Schools, the Calendar, Judiciary, Beer even!

By around 1700 BC the Sumerian race had been absorbed and bred into the Assyrian-Babylonian (ie Akkadian) race..

The Assyrians and Babylonians(Ethnically, the same race) continued to advance- Heavy Cavalry, Professional Armies, Advanced Legal Codes, Advanced Medicine, Libraries, Zoological and Botanical Gardens, Seige Engines, Flotation Bags, Huge Cities, Massive Architectural Projects, Postal Service etc etc, not to mention the Assyrian empire, the first truly large Empire in History.

By the end of the 6th century BC, both Assyria and Babylon had fallen, they came under the rule of Persia, Greece, Rome, however there was a resurgence in the kingdoms of Hatra, Oshroene, Adiabene and Palmyra(technically in Syria).

In Christian times, the Aramaic speaking Assyrians were among the first to adopt Christianity and the Ancient Assyrian Church Of The East is the oldest Christian denomination to this day.

Christianity was spread by Assyrian(often Wrongly called Nestorian) priests as far as India(Kerala), Mongolia, China and Central Asia, not to mention all over the Mid East and Caucasus.

After the Arab conquest in 7th Century AD, the native Mesopotamians retained their Aramaic language and Christian religion....many scholars and thinkers of the early Arab civilisation were in fact NOT Arabs, but Assyrian Christians.

The Assyrian, or Chaldo-Assyrian people today still make up around 5% of the population of Iraq, still speak Aramaic (the oldest written continually used language in the world), they are also found in Turkey, Syria, Iran and Armenia.

The descendants of the Ancient Mesopotamians are today badly persecuted in the Middle East for both Racial and Religious reasons.

I hope this post helps people understand that we STILL EXIST!

    Shlama!
