  1. I believe that the country with the most endangered animals are areas with exotic animals that are in places such as rainforests and Africa. The rainforest has the biggest diversity of animals and right now the forest is being cut down at an alarming rate. Because of this, some of the animals that are in the rainforest haven't even been found and have gone extinct.

Tigers, elephants, and other animals are all endangered because of hunters who want hides or ivory.

  2. Australia is regarded as having one of the worst records (in recent times) for species at risk and rates of extinction. It may well also have a high number of threatened species, but whether this is the highest in the world would require a bit more reading and comparison to the criteria for listing of a species as threatened or more specifically "endangered".

The IUCN Red List will tell you how many by country, however you should note that all the species listed by the IUCN will not necessarily be the full number of threatened species. Many countries will keep their own records on but these will often vary between state and national levels.

The IUCN identify Ecuador with 2,180 listed species and this is by far the most of any country for that list. However you will note that the proportion of invertebrates is very low for most if not all countries indicating a level of bias related to the amount of knowledge we have of such species. There is also the criteria for listing. You asked specifically in relation to "endangered" species, the IUCN will give you this answer but, an endangered IUCN species is not necessarily also regarded as endangered by all the countries it occurs in. What I mean to say is that globally, the species may be endangered and noted as occurring in a particular country, but if a given country is at the centre of the species distribution or near the limits will make a difference as to how it is regarded at a national level.

This is probably not the definitive answer you seek, but things rarely are in ecology. Everything is relative.

  3. Nope, no good resources, but if you want a semi-educated guess, it's the good ol' USA.  The USA includes Hawaii, and Hawaii has lots of endangered and threatened species.

  4. most I'd say alstraila.  but the lowest would be china.
