Well, America has the most (50), but they only have 16 gold.

China has 45 medals, but they have 27 gold, and so are winning the medal tally (at least, the tally in most normal countries)

Australia has 26 medals and 7 gold! With a population of only 21 million! Yay!

ummm... i think michael phelps is a great athlete and deserves everything he's got. He worked hard, and it showed. And i think thorpe wasn't really that great, and was amazingly up himself. and i don't know what comment you're talking about actually.  And i don't hate americans, i've just had some bad experiences with their 'america is the only decent country, and leads the world' attitude. (and yes, i know i'm sterotyping, but you can't pretend it doesn't exist)

I think it is great that Australia has won the medals that they have won. Stephanie Rice has had an outstanding meet. The Aussies are sure to gather more medals before it is all over. I'm pleased when these tiny nations, that have total populations of twenty thousand, send their athlete (yes..singular) to compete...and find myself wishing with all my heart that that lone athlete gets a medal. I root for the Brits rowers to smoke everyone because they do it so d**n well and there is so much history behind them. I pull for the American ladies to trash the world in softball because they are such a juggernaut.

The list of human interest stories is so incredibly long and one can be found in each event. It is amazing that these athletes are doing what they are doing and then to see your petty tripe and obvious hatred just amazes me.

Oh, I get it. You are pissed because Michael Phelps used something that Ian Thorpe said to motivate him to crush everything that Thorpe achieved and now your god, Ian Thorpe, is diminished in your pathetic little mind. Is that it?
