If you can only speak english? (we don't want to live in the UK) I can speak french but my partner can only speak english, we both want to live and work somewhere in europe. Obviously we are going to start to learn the language of the place we want to move to, but it would take years to become fluent. Which countries/cities in europe speak a lot of english in business and in general.

Thanks!

  1. Do you have, or are you entitled to, a EU passport?  You'll need that to live anywhere in Europe.

  2. It is nearly impossible for an American citizen to get a work visa in Europe.  All other Europeans are ahead of Americans for work visas and jobs...due to the European Union rules.  Unless you have higher education and very rare job skills your chances are scant.  You must find an employer first to get a work visa. I also believe it is quite impractical to expect an employer to hire you if you are not fluent in the language...how would you function in his business and why would he hire you?  There is no shortage of workers in Europe for low skill or high skill jobs.  You can choose a country, go to the embassy website of that country to the U.S. and research work visa requirements.  Many countries do not so much as mention work visas on their embassy websites...this is a hint!  You have to contact the embassy.  Most folks have no idea the complexities of trying this til they seriously look into it.

  3. Ireland. They speak English there, and it's beautiful. :-)
