Which country invented boxing?

I know Mexico is known for it's boxing skills and legacy. But was it invented their or was it invented somewhere else? Im looking for the first official boxing with the gloves and the rounds and all that. Im not talking about the Greek years very awhile back.

  1. boxing as we know it was invented in the states.  They put it in the ring and made fighters wear gloves.

    The greeks like roll around on each other all naked.

  3. i c every one says greeks but it not the usa created boxing because thes saw the way the greeks faught and they culd have that in there country and it was created arouind mid 20's

  4. Boxing has been around for a long time... earliest recorded use was the Greeks. However, the current conventions for boxing as we know it now were largely by the British in the Marquess of Queensberry which were laid down in 1867.
