  1. Politics & religion: Serbia

Serbian-Greek relations have traditionally been friendly due to cultural and historical factors. Friendly relations have played an important role in bilateral relations between the two nations, especially during the wars of the 1990s and the Balkans Campaign[47] in World War I.

    Culture & Mentality: Italy.

Italians tend to associate most closely with the Greeks, especially due to the Magna Græcia and Greco-Roman cultures. This is exemplified in the saying "una faccia, una razza", meaning "one face, one race", a phrase Greeks and Italians sometimes use in reference to each other.[52] Modern methods of genetic testing show that Greeks are indeed the closest genetically,[53][54][55][56][57] while other former rulers gene flows are very limited.[54][58][59][60][61][62]

  2. It's closer to Serbia. Italy is civilized.

  3. Because the question is really clear and says Culturally and not Politically

the answer is that Greece is closer to Italy, even if we have different religions...

  4. On the moon. Just kidding, it would be closer to Serbia, Italy is a little farther east away.

  5. Well I'm a Canadian living in Greece and I've been to Italy as well, never been to Serbia but I gotta say Greece has got that Balkan mentality which Italy doesn't. Italy is much more "western".

  6. Neither! Greece is unique, not to be compared or contrasted with any other country.

  7. i think Italy

No way Serbia.....especially with the incident about the name

they are crazy after so many years they want to call them Macedonians....ELEOS!!!

  8. Greece is culturally closer to Serbia.

  9. Both countries have equal influence in Greece.

Serbia because we share the same historical and religious background of Orthodoxy and we are close to their mentality.

Italy because of the deep influence the Venetians have left in many parts of Greece, and which in turn were passed on to the rest of Greece.

Certainly , however, is not because Greeks talk either language, Serbian or Italian and vice versa.

  10. ANSWER: BOTH! If you study greek history you will see that we have very close connections to both of them, even Italy has connections with slavic nations that once inhabited it's east borders (Trieste, Udine etc).

Dear FOOKER:  Do they tell you in America that the northern part of Greece is inhabited by slavs, that's why Greece is affraid of FYROM and it's name?

I've heard it from a very kind American. It is the nuclear...factory that US is about to built in FYROM, isn't it?....

By the way, Modern Greeks speak slavic languages but only as foreign languages, many friends have studied in Beograd and also in Sofia, Plovdiv etc....

Sorry, but I had to answer it :-).

  11. Italy, I would say: especially the south part of it.

However, we share the same religion with Serbia and we have always been friends and allies.

  12. may greeks in northern greece spaek slavic languages
