  1. This information was extracted from a website and might be helpful for your decisions:

Canada offers a high quality, affordable education that is recognized world-wide. Moreover, Canada is a safe, secure, healthy, multicultural and welcoming environment for international students. All Universities and Colleges offer excellent academic programs and teaching. As well, services and advisors are available to help students adapt to living in Canada and ensure that the time spent in Canada is enjoyable. In 1998, nearly 30,000 international students made Canadian universities their choice for preparing for a successful career.

    Profiles/Admission

Most Of Universities if Canada are World Class Institutions and are cheaper than American Universities. The Deadlines Of Most Engineering Programs are in December to February they have earlier deadline than US universities. Getting in Canadian universities is relatively easy but getting in top 3-4 University is tough. TOEFL and Engineering GPA is most important for Admission. GRE is also Important but it seems TOEFL is most Important.

    Most Top Universities desire TOEFL>250

The International English Language Testing System (IELTS): 7.5

The Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB): 90 with 80 minimum per section including a minimum score Of 3 in the speaking test component. There are similar requirements at Canada's French-language universities. International students are advised to contact the Canadian university where they wish to study about one year in advance.

    Cost Of Study

Canadian University are cheapest among UK, USA, Australia. The Commonwealth scholarship is one source of funding for Canadian Universities at the post-graduate level, but is restricted to a very limited number of students of exceedingly high intellectual promise who live in Commonwealth countries.

  2. At undergraduate level, you are looking at at least $30,000/ academic year (2 semesters/3 quarters) including room & board, but you can find some scholarships for international students. You may also work on campus, but that is never enough money. Also, you need to prove that you can handle the bill before being accepted. A B.A. degree in the U.S. takes about 4 years.

However, some universities have tuition caps and may let you go onto monthly payments.

Don't know much about Canada, but I know they openly promote legal immigration.
