  1. If religion and family/personal issues weren't at stake, I'd say get married in the U.S. I think it would be easier to get his U.S. paperwork and for you to keep your U.S. citizenship. You need to come back to the U.S. once a year to keep citizenship, no?

  2. get a visa,go to america, get jobs(good ones!) get married, they cant kick you out, once your paying insurance and medical regularly, just dont mess up!

  3. ms k  think about it, if you want to eventually move to the U.S. then get married here so you can de-conflict any immigration issues immediately rather than find out later when you and luigi are ready to come home.  I have been to italy and papa johns has better pizza.

  4. Actually, if you are currently living in Italy, it would be faster to marry there and file the immigrant visa petition in Italy rather than filing it here. Processing an immigrant petiton is usually much faster overseas than through USCIS in the US. If you wanted to file a fiance petition and marry in the US, you would need to file it in the US, as it can't be filed overseas. That would take 6-10 months before the petiton made it to Italy and your fiance could be interviewed.  Check out

This comes from that website: American citizens resident in Italy who wish to file immigrant visa petitions for residents of Italy should contact the Department of Homeland Security, Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services, United States Embassy, Consular Building, Via Veneto 121, 00187 Rome, Tel (39) 064674-2190, Fax (39) 064674-2920.
