Japan. The current emperor is Akihito. His wife the empress Michiko. His heir is crown prince Naruhito, who's married to Masako Owada. Princess Masako is as popular in Japan as princess Diana used to be in the UK.

In order to have an emperor, a country has to have an empire--that is, the country must not only consist of the mother country but subservient countries as well.

Although Japan calls its monarach an "emperor," the title is a misnomer. Japan is not an empirical nation. Thus Japan doesn't really have an emperor; it merely has a figurehead whom the country calls as such.
