  1. Your question is not very clear.

Switzerland has been historically neutral - if that's what you want to know.

  2. Which war are you talking about? If you're talking about World War 2, then  remember that many countries became involved. Some were directly involved in the conflict, and some countries became caught up as time progressed. Most countries' fates were heavily influenced by the events of WW2.

Several countries that were not involved and did not play any strategic importance are:

    Lebanon

    Syria

Palestine (was influenced by WW2 Holocaust events though)

    Kuwait

    Bahrain

    Qatar

    Trucial States

    Oman

    Yemen

Those countries were all under British/French protection, so they would have been nominally on the Allied side but remained neutral and played no role. A stark contrast to now, as if World War 3 ever took place, the Middle East would have a big part to play.

  3. Greenland, The Vatican and New Zealand

  4. RE: the answer saying New Zealand

I must point out that New Zealanders played a huge role in the allied forces of WWII, fighting with distinction alongside British and Empire forces in Africa, Italy and the Far East. A large number of the first troops to land in Normandy on D-Day were from New Zealand.

  5. Switzerland did not have troops involved in WW II, just their greedy bankers, who still have millions of $$$$'s in their vaults, which n**i Germany stole from the Jewish people who were killed or confined in concentration camps.

Was Switzerland a neutral country during WW II?

    I don't think so!!

  6. According to the constitution of Costa Rica, it is illegal to form an army.  Switzerland is neutral.  It is not clear if you mean a country that has sent troops to war or a country which has been invaded.

  7. The Vatican City State has not been involved in a war since its creation in 1929. However, its historical predecessor the Papal States was involved in many wars.

Contrary to popular myth, Switzerland has been involved in many wars. The last one was the Napoleonic Wars:

Costa Rica has been involved in wars both before and after its independence. The most recent one was in 1955, when it was invaded by rebels from Nicaragua.

Several countries that have been formed in recent years have not been involved in wars since becoming independent states. For example Pacific island states such as Fiji (granted independence in 1970), the Federated States Micronesia (independent in 1979), Palau (independent in 1994). The same would apply to other colonies such as Greenland, or islands in the West Indies. But these countries were all involved in wars when they were still colonies.

You could say the same thing about some ex-Soviet states such as Turkmenistan or Kazakhstan, founded after the break-up of the Soviet Union in 1991. However, the people inhabiting these areas have historically been involved in many wars.

Likewise, the Czech Republic has never been involved in a war since it was formed in 1994, though its predecessor Czechoslovakia was.

A lot depends on what one means exactly by a “country” and what one means by “involved in a war”. If you go back far enough everywhere in the world has been involved in war at some point, though that may be before they became “countries” in the sense of independent states that exist today.

(BTW With regard to the answer about Lebanon and Syria in World War II, these areas were actually the scene of heavy fighting between the British and the Vichy French! Like the rest of the Middle East they were of extreme strategic importance and garrisoned throughout the war. Of course, this is all beside the point as these countries have also been involved in many other wars.)

  8. Switzerland, Costa Rica, Belize, Lichtenstein?

  9. Switzerland !
