Germany, except I struggle with the language.  And my weight. Those people forced me to drink the most delicious beer and eat the most wonderful food.  I never fully recovered.  It was wonderful.

Although I love Jamaica I have learned that you must first check out everything that will affect your life.  I think no matter where you decide you should deal with the locals as you will not be a tourist in lavish settings.  Visit utility departments, find out food and sanitation codes, travel around to areas you would be exposed to, especially on a normal basis of your routine and my most important, GO TO the local groceries, look around, check out meat and vegetables (spoilage), pick up things that should be cold and see if they feel cold. Find out about health care, insurance, major medical emergencies and where you would be taken.  Housing availability and safe neighborhoods.  You will need at least 1 or 2 contacts if you have a problem - even more important if there is a language barrier.  Learn currency exchange, how to use a phone for a reasonable cost, if you need a visa and how long you can stay, residency requirements and you really should find out if you have a problem how you get help, local admin. or consulate.  Spend the time to investigate and save yourself some headaches later. (Don't jump into selling your home for awhile unless you must.  Also taxes, the list can go on and on, these are just the first ones that came to my mind.

Have lived in a few different places ... Europe, Australia, South Africa ... very happy in Canada, thanks, so will be staying put!   ;-)
