  2. Hi a good idea would be to get a credit card that can give your perks you will actually use. You have mentioned you are in college, so I can that gives you cash back on book purchases for instance should be more helpful that discount is fishing stores for instance...

Specially if you are responsible and pay in time, rates should not be an issue. So instead of shopping for a credit card. shop for a perk that best matches your lifestyle. below is a link for Book perks. Good luck

  3. you can apply for this credit card, http://fexr.com/22mr . its made for people like you who have no credit history or bad credit. i wouldn't be able to tell you the kind of limit you would be able to get but its guaranteed to be at least 1500 i think. i was able to get a 2500 dollar credit line myself with my horrrrrible credit.

  4. Cards you get from a source other than the issuer tend to have higher interest charges. Sears MasterCard has one of the highest rates anywhere.

You stated you always pay your balance when you receive your statement but you don't want an American Express because you have to pay the bill when it comes due.

For a sophomore in college looking for a second credit card, Discover really isn't a bad way to go. If you go to a place that doesn't accept it, use your other card. Discover has decent benefits for students.

  5. Master Card is not as accepted as a VISA card.  Perhaps you might qualify for a Chase VISA card through Amazon.com.  For every $2,500 you spend on your card, you earn $25 to spend at Amazon.com.

  6. From someone who has analyzed every aspect of her credit report I can give you these tips:

-Every time you apply for a credit card an inquiry is placed on your credit report

-credit inquiries lower your credit score

-accounts opened that haven't been open for 3 or more years hurt your credit score (but once they hit 3 years can raise it)

You said that you are very responsible and pay off your credit cards on time. In this case you shouldn't need an emergency card. I have capital one and I would recommend them. After 5 on time payments they will raise your credit limit automatically which helps your credit score.  Credit score is very important, as I'm sure you already know, when buying a car/house or taking out a loan. Hopefully you will take into account the tips I've listed when deciding on which credit cards to get and how many. Hope this helped!
