  1. Cost- Carnival hands down. Now with cost out of the equation I would have to say Royal Caribbean, they have some of the largest ships, in the cruising industry, and they have some of the greatest attractions, like the Flow Rider, Rock Climbing walls, Golf Simulators, and so on. Carnival is known for there waterslides, and their carefree and fun atmosphere. It just really depends on what kind of deals you can find, and if price is an issue or not. Good luck. Also destinations also are a factor when considering price.

  2. royal caribian

i went on a carnival it sucked, the pools are chlorin and salt so it really stings your eyes. and royal caribbian has more oppions

  3. I've heard Carnival is cheaper, but I wouldn't recommend it. I have been on Royal Caribbean 5 times, only once did I have a complaint, on Voyager, the service was slow on the first day...out of five ships...one complaint is pretty good for a cruiseline. Two people I know have been on Carnival, one person told me the food was terrible, the service was lousy, and the trip was boring...he would much rather have stayed home and spent his money on something he would enjoy. The second person told me the same thing, and Carnival is not as nice as Royal Caribbean (this person goes with us every time we cruise). She says she will never leave RCCL again.

Personally, I love Royal Caribbean and I will stick with it as long as I continue cruising. The prices vary depending on where you are going, what room you stay in, how long you cruise...but after the trip my family finds the price is worth it. We love it.

  4. Carnival is cheaper, but if you really want to pay the extra money to go on Royal Carribean then it is definitely worth it!!

  5. IT DEPENDS ALL CRUISE LINES ARE GOOD.  CARNIVAL IS REAL A FUN SHIP THE GAMES AND NIGHTLY PARTIES ARE VERY GOOD.  ON ROYAL THE FOOD IS BEST AND THE ACTIVITIES THEY HAVE AQRE A BIT BORING.  ALSO HOW LONG ARE YOU GOING IF YOU ARE GOING FOR JUST A WEEKEND THEN GO ON WHO EVER GIVES THE BEST PRICE.  BEEN ON ALMOST ALL CRUISE LINES AND NO MATTER WHAT ITS ALSO WHAT YOU MAKE OUT OF THE TRIP  HAVE FUN

  6. Been on both, and I prefer carnival. Both ships have salt water pools.

    NCL has freestyle, not RCL.

The ports are the same no matter which cruise line you go on, Costa Maya will suck whether it is Carnival or RCL.

If you go in the summer or when the kids have vacation you have alot of kids no matter the line. Ive taken my kids and think carnival has an awesome program for them.

RCL seemed to roll up the sidewalks around 10p, even in the clubs. carnival had deck parties that were actually pretty entertaining.

Carnival had more activities during the day , which you can participate in or not.

The food was definitely better on carnival, although RCL had a larger buffet we were packed in so tight it was hard to get your chair out.

You will find people terribly loyal to one line or the other. Go and have fun, you can make the best of any situation and have a good time or you can pout...lol..Have fun

  7. If cost is your only consideration, Carnival is going to be cheaper than Royal Caribbean.

As far as other aspects, each line has its fans and detractors, just as some people like Fords and some people like Chevys.

There are many other things to consider when choosing a cruise.  I suggest you get some books on cruising from your library to find out what those considerations are [size of ship, passenger profile, activity level, decor, etc, etc] to help you decide which ones would be right for you.

You can also check out CruiseCritic.com ["Boards" and/or "Reviews] to get lots of info about cruising.

  8. Carnival. A lot of my friends have been on cruises and one of them did royal carribian and said it was the worst cruise he was on ever. Carnival is the best been on it my self.

  9. Carnival.

  10. Well if you're looking for a little cruise ship excitment go with Royal Carribean. Esp. in the summer time because tht's when all the family reunions come out; and tht means some royal action (bois everywhere)

  12. I've heard Royal Caribbean is better. I went on a Carnival cruise and the ship was nice, but the ports of call were not so. I guess it just depends where you are going.

  13. I have cruised both and royal caribbean is definitely better. Carnival is usually cheaper in price, but with them you get what you pay for, which isn't much. They lack activities, what they have usually consists of overpriced bingo and port shopping classes. The food leaves much to be desired, and seems far from fresh. A lot of there ships are older and don't offer much, and service to get things fixed is very slow. The crew seem like they really dislike there jobs. On Royal it is the total opposite. They offer a lot, some of the newer ships have things like ice skating rinks, rock climbing walls, billiards room and movie theaters. Besides that they offer a lot of activities from salsa lessons, to steel drum lessons, liquor tastings, to scrap booking classes. The activities are varied and constant. Also the food is excellent and is hot and fresh. The staff are extremely helpful and seem to really enjoy their jobs. The evening shows are of good quality and they have really good night life. They have a nightclubs and also a lot of lounges that offer dancing and various types of music from latin, to jazz, rock, and country. They really make sure everyone has something to enjoy.  They also have really great itineraries, with interesting ports of call. Their ships may cost a little more but it is well worth it, you will definitely get your monies worth.

  14. Have only sailed Royal Caribbean so cannot compare cruise lines, but we've been quite happy with R.C., the price, service, food, etc.

  16. Royal Carribean!!!!!!!!!!

oo for cost i dunno but if u gona pay make it a goood cruise

depends on how many people go in one room

  17. The costs are relatively the same. The big question you want to ask yourself is what kind of cruising do you want to do?

Carnival Cruises has a lot of children on the cruise. It's more family oriented. Also, they have set times for you to eat, a set dinning room, and a set formal dinner night.

Royal Carribean cruises will have less children on the cruise. They also feature what is called freestyle cruising. What this means is, you decide where and when you want to eat.

So, it's really up to you as far as how you want to spend your time.

Good luck in your decision making!

  18. Carnival is hands down the best bang for the buck.

Choose your port wisely.. that is go to places you want see.

Some ports like progresso and san juan leave a bit to be desired, but st. maarten cozumel, and barbados will always leave you wanting more.

As far as a company some people like each there are pros and cons to each line.

  19. Neither, I hate cruises. They got people throwing people overboard. Go on Carnival, they have freestyle cruising. No ditzy schedules.

  20. Royal Caribbean by far.

I have been on 7 cruises, and have been on both of these lines.  Although some complain about 'schedules' that RC and other cruise lines have, this isn't necessarily true.  There is a wide variety of activities to participate in/watch during the day, both on and off the ship.  However, you are by no means expected to attend ANY of them.  Nor do they interfere with your schedule if you decide to do other things.  These are merely oppertunities to meet fellow cruisers and etc.

Carnival has some of these kinds of activities but they aren't as organized and are often times more children-orianted.

Royal Caribbean also offers higher class meals, ports at sea, the people are a lot more respectful (both staff and fellow cruisers), rooms, dining rooms, "high tea" in the afternoon, pools, casino, shops, and the over all experience.  Many of their boats have a LOT of shops within the boat.  Carnival does have some as well, but there aren't as many and the selection is substantially smaller.

Many people are turned on by the water slide that Carnival has on many of their ships.  However, if you do further research you will discover that Royal Caribbean offers much more in this adventure category.  There is a huge rock climbing wall (a must do!) on the back of many of the ships (has an amazing view of the ocean), a "wave rider" to simulate surfing, put-put golf, and some of their ships even offer ice skating rinks and bowling alleys!

Although Royal Caribbean is a bit more pricey than Carnival, you will not experience the loud partiers and screaming children (who on my cruise would not stop running into elevators and pushing all of the buttons) that Carnival offers.  And if you consider the meals, rooms, and other things previously listed, I find Royal Caribbean to be much more enjoyable and fun.

Other cruise lines I highly recommend are Celebrity and Princess, my two favorites.

Check out CruiseCritic.com, too.  We use this all the time before planning our cruises, it's one of the best sites out there for cruises.

    Have a nice trip!!
