Question:

Which cruise destinations are better?

I want to go on a 4-night Royal Caribbean cruise this July, but I don't know which destinations to pick this time (I have gone before). I am debating between taking Enchantment to Key West and Cozumel or Majesty to Key West, Cococay, and Nassau. I have been to Nassau and Cococay before (and Cococay was my favorite part of the trip!!), so I don't know whether I should pick the one to Cococay (where I have been and loved it) or Cozumel (Mexico, where I have never been). The other thing worth noting is that Majesty is a smaller ship than Enchantment. From your experience on these cruises, which of them do you recommend? Is Enchantment a lot bigger or better than Majesty (which I believe is similar in size to Sovereign, which was pretty small)?

Thanks so much! I will give a best answer if you are helpful.

  1. I haven't ever cruised with Royal Caribbean, but I have been to these destinations with Carnival on several trips. We loved Cozumel so much that we have gone back by plane four times. There is just so much to see and do there. Since you've been to the other places, I'd try something new and go to Cozumel. You will be glad you did!

  2. I woul definatley go to Cozumel!!!i loved it!!!

  3. If I were in your shoes, my first reaction would be to jump for the Cococay cruise. But, considering I like to try new ports out, I'd go on the other one. So, if you like to try out new ports and see new places, go for the Cozumel cruise. Cozumel is very nice and a lot of it has been rebuilt since it was destroyed by a hurricane several years ago. Cozumel is definitely one of the most popular cruise ports in the Caribbean, so there is plenty to do there. Lots of excursions, and lots of shopping. Also, if you plan on going on more cruises, I'd go on this cruise so, for the next cruise, I can go to whichever I liked better. You'll never know if you'll like Cozumel if you don't try it.

On the other hand, if you'd like to play it safe and go somewhere you know you'd like, go for the Cococay cruise. If you don't plan on going on another cruise, why not go somewhere you know you'll enjoy?

Based on how you're feeling (try somewhere new or play it safe), make your decision based off that. If you still cannot decide, then look at dates and price as the considering factor. That is what we often do when we can't decide between two cruises: "which is cheaper?".

  4. The Majesty is a twin of the Sovereign so it will have an identical layout and the room sizes will be the same.  Cozumel is a blast and has something for everyone.  If you are a beach person,  it has great beach clubs such as Mr. Sanchos or Paradise beach.  It also has alot of shopping and bars.  Also, it has great water sport activities such as diving / snorkling.  The dune buggy tour there is also a blast.  Although the Sovereign  / Majesty is 'small' by modern cruise ship standards, they still are close to 800 feet long and about 12  or so decks high so  large / small is a realitive term here.  My only beef with the Soverign class ships is that the staterooms are tiny.

  5. I went on the Liberty of the seas with royal Caribbean. It is now the largest and newest. It was amazing. Cozumel was the one that won me over. Haiti was OK but it was a private island so it is really hard to tell what is would be like on main land. I hated Jamaica, or at least where we were. Nothing to see there. The grand caymans was another place I enjoyed. The water was perfect.
