Which cruise has the best (most beautiful) departing city and destinations?

I am going on a carnival cruise that was given to me and have a choice between a cruise from Los Angeles to Catalina Island and Ensenada, from Port Canaveral to Freeport and the Bahamas, or from Miami to Key West and Cozumel. This is my first cruise and I really don't care as much about shopping and entertainment as just enjoying the beauty of the locations. I'm leaning towards the cruise from Los Angeles but want to hear from people who have been to some of these places.

Caribbean is more cruise-ified the excursions to the caribbean will show you the best of the islands and yet the amount of ships in port will you, you can still find a very beautiful spot to relax

I have cruised from all three of the ports that you listed and here's what I think.  First, your cruise will depart about 6:00 PM and for maybe half an hour you will see the port city fade away and neither is that great a scenery.  Then you will likely approach the island destination about 7:00 AM and then dock and the places that you have listed are not really scenic.  So the best scenic part of the cruise will be if you can catch an ocean sunset.

But here's what I suggest.  If you want scenery the best place to cruise is to Alaska.  So see if you can trade your gift for a 7 day cruise to Alaska.  Carnival cruises there and the Alaska cruise season is mid-May through mid-September.  The Alaska cruises are prices lower in May and Sept so those would be the best times to try to trade up.   You should call Carnival direct and explain what you have and what you want to do.  

Alaska is beautiful; I have been there twice.  And if you want scenery go north to Alaska.  Save the price of flying east or west and fly to Seattle or Vancouver Canada.

The ocean is more beautiful in the Caribbean then down in Mexico, so I would choose leaving from Florida. To me it is just a lot nicer and prettier.
