  1. #1 Celebrity and #2 Royal Caribbean.

  2. That's like asking "Which car is good?"  Depends on what you are looking for!

Go to your library and check out some books about cruising.

Go to CruiseCritic.com, click on "Boards" and "Reviews" and do some browsing.  You'll get an idea of what's out there and what might fit you best.

Celebrity and Holland America are the "best" mass-market lines in terms of service and food and decor, but they tend to skew a little older and reserved.

Princess, Carnival and Royal Caribbean are somewhat of a step down, but are very popular with many people.  Carnival, particularly, is often viewed as a good first cruise.

Norwegian has its fans but also many detractors.  [Someone in my family tried NCL after several Carnival cruises and was not pleased.]  The food is pretty much panned by those on the Cruise Critic boards [except for the rabid fans, of course] and their "Freestyle" cruising is not for everyone, although if you haven't cruised before, you wouldn't know the difference.

You really need to do some research, because the answers you get here are very personal.  CC has so many opinions that you can really get an idea of what might fit you.

Also, there are many, many things to consider in choosing a cruise, not just the ship - which type of room? which deck? what itinerary? when to go?  how long?, etc, etc.

Have fun with the research.  I hope you find a cruise that's just right for you - if you do, you will definitely be "hooked" on cruising.

  3. A better question would be which cruise ships are not good?  I haven't encounter a bad one yet.  Check WWW.CRUISECRITIC.COM, they have countless cruise reviews.

  4. My first choice is Celebrity.  Excellent service and a fair price.

I would steer clear of Norwegian.  That "freestyle" is just their way of not providing customer service.  I have heard too many stories from their passengers waiting in long lines for an hour or more for restaurant seating.

  5. Good for what?

Good for families?  Try Disney, Carnival, Royal Caribbean or Norwegian.

Good for activities?  Royal Caribbean's largest ships, the five Voyager class and three Freedom class (the third one is still being built) have the most options.  Other good choices are the rest of the Royal Caribbean ships, Carnival and Norwegian.

Good for seniors?  Holland America Line, Celebrity or Princess.

Good for young kids?  Disney, Carnival, Royal Caribbean or Norwegian.

Good for older children?  Carnival, Royal Caribbean or Norwegian.

Upscale?  Holland America Line, Celebrity or Princess.

Luxury?  Seabourn, Silversea, Regent Seven Seas or Crystal.

All ships are better at somethings than others.  It depends on what you you are looking for and what you are willing to pay.

  6. i agree with callahan!

  7. Any with a 4 star rating or higher. Check vacationstogo.com

  8. go on the carnival victory cruise, the cruise line is called carnival

im going on that one in april with my friend:D

  9. Any ship with a 4 star rating is fine. You need to look at price, accomodations (balcony Vs inside cabin), and where and time you want to go.

Hint:  If you can find a cruise where they are repositioning a nice ship you can find great deals. Also some cruiselines offer freestyle cruising like Norwegian.

  10. Try to go onto a smaller ship. I went on the Freedom of the Seas which was great but when you went into port you had to wait forever because thousands of people were getting off at the same time as you.

  11. They are almost all good. That things are important to you will make one ship a better choice than another.
