I'm going on a cruise in May, don't know which one yet, but its to Mexico. I was wondering if there were any that included the alcohol or the meals. Is there maybe an all you can drink pass? How does that work?

  1. I am not aware of any of the major cruiselines that offer alcohol included in the cost of the cruise. They all include your food, and pretty much as much as you can eat or would ever want to eat. There is an endless parade of culinary delights. You will be amazed.

Royal Caribbean offers a Coke package. It costs $6 per day and it includes all the soda you could want to drink. Personally, I don't think it's worth it. I mean, that's $50 for a week's worth of soda. There's always coffee, tea, water and lemonade available somewhere. If I'm really craving a soda, I'll just purchase one.

As for drinks, don't be enticed by the 'Drink of the Day' special. Crew members walk around carrying the drink of the day in a specialty souvenir glass and those drinks generally cost upwards of $6-8. If you really want to try the drink of the day, go to one of the bars and ask for it in a regular glass. It will cost about half those in the glasses you get to keep.

If you're a wine drinker, some cruise lines will let you purchase a bottle of wine and will cork and cool it for you the entire week. That way you can have the lower cost of the 'bulk' wine that will last you as long as you make it out. This only works in the main dining room. Ask your waiter if this service is available.

Have a great time. Cruises are fantastic. I will never again take a major vacation that is not a cruise! I am hooked!

  2. most cruises I've been on you have to pay for your alcohol...they charge it to your room number then you pay up at the end of the cruise.....check with the cruise lines or call a travel agent for exact info.....good luck

  3. They include the food - but alcohol will be billed to your room and you will have to have a credit card at check in.

  4. The only cruiseline that is all-inclusive is Silver Seas.

All cruiselines have all of your meals included in the price.  Coffee, tea, lemonade, and juices are all complimentary.  Alcohol is not included except for Silver Seas.

There is not such a thing as an all you can drink card for alcoholic drinks.  They do have that for soda and it comes out to around $6 per day.  You have to buy the card on your first day.

Silver Seas is the most expensive cruiseline.  It typically runs around $900 per day per person.  If you can afford that, go for it.  I can't afford it.
