Should I do Jazz, Lyrical, Hip Hop, or Step dancing? What are these, like, what exactly would you learn? (In a beginner class) I don't have any idea what some of those are. So help me with that.

  1. Ballet would be best for a foundation into all of these styles... otherwise...

Jazz dancing - this is kind of like the style dance teams use at school. Lots of kick, jumps, leaps, splits etc. But dont worry! You wont be expected to do this as a beginner, but you will learn! Jazz isnt only to old school music, think Rhianna Please Don't Stop The Music sort of thing as well. This style is upbeat and happy.

Lyrical - kind of like ballet. Very expressive, soft, fluid movements. A wide range of music can be used. Sort of like jazz, but much softer, and much more emotion.

Hip Hop - raw energy. You have to be pretty loose and free to do this style well.

    Step dancing - no idea!

I would do jazz, its the most fun!

  2. ehh none of those wy dont you try latin ballroom?

  3. hip hop is fun

  4. i'd say jazz.

that ones the funnest to me personally & you could

take it further & tryout for a dance team cuz alot of dance

    teams use jazz mainly.

  5. Well if you want to be good at any style of dance, you should take a ballet class. Having ballet technique helps you with any type of dance.

That being said, there's a million different options for you!! It all depends on what you like to do.

If you want a class that's more freestyle and not as technical that I suggest you try Hiphop. It's not really all gangster and stuff like they try to make it on the movies, it can be really cool.

Jazz is a good class for a beginner because although it's really technical the moves can be really simple and it's mostly just about having fun.

Tap is really cool, too, and once you get the basics down you can do almost everything. I think tap is one of the easiest styles to learn, anyone could do it really if they put it the time.

If you want to feel a real emotional connection to what you're dancing, you could try Lyrical, Modern or Contemporary which are really technical but really beautiful, mostly slow songs where you have to feel the music a lot.

I don't really know anything about step dancing, sorry!!

    Good luck with dancing :)

  6. Well if your into old time music take jazz. If you like modern music take Lyrical. If you like to take it up a notch take Hip hop. For Step dancing you have to like irish music, grace, and physical ability. I would take Hip hop. But I told you what these dances are about and you can chose one that is more of your style and rhythm.
