Question:

Which dance could be next?

I've been dancing now for a few years in Salsa & Jive (both as lead and follower) and Hip-Hop, but now I'm not sure where to turn to next.

I would love to try out a ballroom dance, but not sure whether any of the skills I've learnt through my previous dances are transferrable to the ballroom style. Does anyone have any suggestions?

  1. Ballroom dance is fun - and great for poise and posture - and the whole 'dance with a partner' thing is so much fun. Let's face it if you did ballet for example it would be years and years and you may still never be good enough to even start to dance with a partner.

  2. The skills you have learned are absolutely transferable to ballroom!

The salsa will help you immensely with the 'ballroom latin' dances such as cha cha, rumba and samba. The jive will help you with quick and fancy footwork in the quickstep...

You might find the ballroom hold stiff and awkward at first compared with what you're used to, but I urge you to have a go!

I started with salsa and then learned latin/ballroom and it's definitely worth it!

  3. Go for ballroom dancing, then. If you've never tried if before, you never know if you're good at it! And who knows, maybe it'll be the thing that sends you soaring into the future.
