  1. im a philosophy student, i chose it because i want to really learn and see this life and existence in a larger perspective, philosophy is the reason why i remain positive and critical and thankful of knowledge and wisdom, english is a profitable job, philosophy is an adventure.

  2. English, Philosophy is nowhere near as vocational as English.

  3. Depends on what career you're looking for. In my opinion -Philosophy is more practical.  As long as you pick a side and don't "straddle the fence" on every issue and as long as you still tolerate and "understand" where others come from.

No matter what you study college undergrads are required to take English and various writing intensive courses.   You will study literature at some extent but Philosophy is not a required subject for undergrads. English is definitely a more "accepted" and "respected" degree over Philosophy but as far as being "practical".. I would say Philosophy.

I took two years of philosophy and loved it.   Management wise- its very beneficial.  You'll have a better grasp on why people believe what they do and how their decisions are based on social environment.

I say choose the one that you love most... the one that you don't mind doing "extra" work on. Can't decide?  Then do a double major.  I know of corporate presidents who have undergrad degrees in Philosophy or English. (They went on to pursue graduate degrees in Finance or Business )    In the end, its all about how you apply what you learn.

  4. english................

  5. English, but right now I would consider something.... more solid
