i figured i could just talk to the front desk clerk, but usually they are not very helpful.

  1. Don't bother with the cops. Go to the DAs office and file a complaint there.


  2. It can vary from each jurisdiction.  In mine, it's the Family Crime Unit (it doesn't matter if it was not a family elderly abuse, they're just the ones that handle it).  You can also check with the "crimes against persons unit" or something like that.

  3. There are state agencies that work with the Elderly and Adults with Disabilities to help protect them and provide services. If you have a Health and Human Services Department in your state or something similar, contact them!

  4. You will have to make a report to a patrol officer first, anyway. Then, the complaint/report will be directed to the correct division. Detectives handle the follow-up investigations. They usually aren't the reporting officer, also,
