Which destinations in South America would you recommend to visit?

-Buenos Aires, Argentina is described as "the small Europe" it is a nice city, really good to visit.

-There are problems with "Farc" in Colombia but that´s just in the rainforst, You can visit the capital, Bogota safely. It is very good for shopping. This is a very historical city. Medellin, Cartagena and San Andrés islands are very good too.

-Machupichu in Peru is very famous as the Incas lives in there. If you like to see ruins, go to Peru.

-Galapagos islands in Ecuador are really good, there are a lot of endemic species in  there.

It really depends on what you're looking for. South American countries are different one another. Argentina  for instance is the most european influenced country in South America (followed by Chile), Buenos Aires is a capital that never sleeps and if you love snow skiing, go to Bariloche. Chile being similar to Argentina in many ways has a beautifull countryside and a very modern capital Santiago and there u can go to Easter Island.

Brasil is a world of its own, uncomparable to the rest of his neighbors. If you love to party and the beach, this is definatly your destination, although you have to be carefull with robery.

If you want to experience the Southamerican highlands you'll have to choose between Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia in any case you'll have beahces (except for Bolivia), Highlands and Jungle. Venezuela is also a tropical paradise worth visiting.

My recomendation:  

1.-   Cuzco-Puno-La Paz

2.-   Southern Chile - Bariloche - Fiords Cruise

3.-   Galapagos Islands - Ecuador

You should go to Colombia I've been there twice! I'm part Colombian! there are so many things to see! Museums are big and very cool! there is great food and many other things!

Venezuela is my top pick, the country is absolutely amazing and the people are even better.

I would also recommend Ecuador, Peru, Argentina and Chile.

I would disagree with Adyari. If you are a gringo... Venezuela is not safe right now. It is a great country but with so much to explore why go there? Id see Iguazu falls, The lines of Nazca, Easter Island, The Galapagos, Lake Titicaca, The gold museum in Colombia, Hard to go wrong in ANY country.. just be safe and smart.

Buenos Aires un Argentina is great!! nice people, very european, and the nigthlife is the best!! The patagonia is a paradise, is a very safty country like US or any european country....
