  1. Exercise works faster!  And stay away from processed foods, get to the basics and get a bicycle!


  2. Neither. Diets don't work. You have to make lifestyle changes to lose weight and keep it off. The best and healthiest way to lose weight in a short period of time is to eat about 6 small, healthy meals each day and exercise for about an hour every day. Also get lots of sleep.

  3. a combination low carb/low fat diet works the best.  only competitive athletes need to follow high carb diets, the average sedentary individual does not need 50% of the daily calories coming from carbohydrates.  the brain only needs 5 grams of carbs per hour to function normally.

    the body composition of the individual also has to be taken into account when designing a proper diet as a person with 35% body fat needs to follow a different diet than another with 20% body fat.  

    replacing carbohydrates with lean proteins forces the body to use a higher amount of fatty acids for use as energy when there are sufficient calories in the diet.  following a diet that is 40% protein, 30% carbs and 30% fats does wonders for most.  the quality of the foods in the diet is more important than the calories themselves so all calories are not created equal.  a diet of 1,600 calories from lean proteins, fish, oatmeal, beans, fruits and veggies, etc. is several magnitudes better than a 1,600 calorie diet of low calorie frozen diet foods, 100 calorie packs and other low cal heavily processed foods.

    diets too low in fats are counter productive to fat loss.  when the dietary fat intake is reduce to below 20% of the daily calories then testosterone production decreases.  when test production decreases so does the level of circulating androgens in the blood which causes a decrease in the metabolic rate.  when the metabolic rate decreases so does fatty acid oxidation in muscle cells.
