Hello everyone .

I've been loving taking photos since my childhood , the first cam I got was "Sony Cybershot DSC-P8 Digital Camera" , it was alright I guess but It did not give me what I exactly needed .

I wonder if you guys know this website : " www.deviantart.com" , its such an wonderful website , I've been looking and watching a lot of photographers that post very adorable photos that I'd love to picture ! .

I've read much about digital cameras also read several question that have been asking about facts that I must consider before buying a camera .

So this is what I want my camera to have :

taking photos is my hobby , I wouldn't prefer a camera with less than 7 megapixel , I want my camera to have a good optical zoom that is good for photographer , also I want it to have good shutting speed ( if I want to picture birds flaying .. etc ) .

I've been thinking of Canon EOS 400D .. but I don't know if its too much for me , should I get a chipper one ? .

Please help me and give me details .. I really need it , every comment would be hearty appreciated .

I want my photos to be as professional as other photos at deviantart are .

  1. I'd suggest you start with something cheaper unless you feel like you can easily put down about $600 for a DSLR with lens kit.

I would go with an advanced point-and-shoot. Something that comes to mind is the Canon PowerShot S5IS or the Canon A720IS. These are excellent cameras and can be purchased for less than $300. You'll miss the speed capability and image quality of a DSLR, but these cameras can help you grow your photography until you feel you can make the jump to a DSLR. In addition, these cameras offer a video mode which allows your camera to be used like a camcorder!

I would never recommend a DSLR to a beginner because it's too much money to spend right away. A capable point-and-shoot has all the manual features that a person can use to learn how to take pictures.

I'd also like to add that the only way you will take photos as good as those on Deviantart is if you practice taking lots of pictures. Buying a super awesome camera doesn't make you a good photographer right away. You need to work on it just like any other art.

  2. Get A NIKON D40....

  3. Yes there is a less expensive DSLR, the Nikon D40 with 18-55 mm lens for under $470, but certainly not a cheap camera ... you left the realm of cheap junk cameras when you left the arena of P&S cameras

As far a producing "professional" photos, you will find that taking a class that teaches you how to expose and compose images will help you more than any particular camera.

Read this ... it will help.
