Question:

Which direction do you lay laminate floating flooring?

Is it just a preference or is it length wise the room or width wise? I have a room that goes east/west (entry on east side). So.... would it look better going width wise (north/south) across the room instead of running straight back? Thanks for the help and advice in advance.

  1. You can lay floating floor any direction you want. I'm considering laying mine on a diagonal which will be really hard. I will have to start in one corner and work my way out with alot of end cuts.

If you have a foyer as your entrance then I would lay them lengthwise in the entrance and continue.

  2. Most hardwood flooring is laid lengthwise. I' ve laid my laminate lenghtwise, otherwise I think it wouldn't look right.

  3. The instructions give recommended methods , usually lenght wise from the largest window. That way you don`t see all the joints. But it is anyway you feel comfortable with. Don`t forget your transition piece at the door ways so you don`t have a raised edge to trip on. I find a jig saw works better than a circular saw . This stuff ruins circular saw blades very quickly. And use an install tool , don`t hit it too hard or you will chip the surface. Take your time , also don`t forget the under pad.
