Question:

Which distortion pedal for guitar is reccomended?

im about to get a distortion pedal but there's lots of it:

grunge, heavy metal, metal zone, turbo, normal and overdrive.

which one would you think would be considerable for me to get? by the way, im into metal musics

  1. Depends on your setup.  The Metal Zone is REALLY extreme.  If you have a little tiny solid state practice amp it might be the way to go.  Just don't turn up the gain REALLY high.  It DOESN'T sound better, it only hides your mistakes under BAD sounding NOISE.  

    I use a modded Boss Blues Driver as my main distortion/overdrive but I also use tube amps.  My main amp is a Hiwatt DG-504, and I also have a Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier and some Fenders... I'm really not much of a metal player.  BUT, if I was a metal play, I would be using the Mesa Boogie and the distortion IN THE AMP.  That's always better.  

    So, if you have a GOOD high-gain tube amp, use the distortion in that.  That's what all the pros do.  

    PS - I've been playing professionally for about 10 years and have toured with different setups.
