Even though most of the fighters in the LHW division are a little long in the tooth, there's still some good matchups that can be made, and we know how good the welterweight division is, but which division is deeper in your opinion?

Welter:

Margarito

Clottey

Cotto

Mosley

Berto

Williams

Judah

Lightheavy:

Dawson

Hopkins

Calzaghe

Tarver

Jones Jr.

Glenn Johnson

Clinton Woods

  1. The loss of Mayweather does take away a lot from the Welterweight division as far as depth goes in my eyes also Zab isnt offering us much nowadays it looks like he is just there to pick up his cheque lately. I would still say though that Welter is slightly stronger and has slightly more depth. Possibly just because we are still to see the best of a lot of these Welters in the future, i think we pretty much know what we are gonna get from the Light Heavys with the exception of Dawson who i believe is the future of the division without doubt. I know what you mean about there are still some great fights that can be made up at Light Heavy but i am a lot more interested in the fights that can be made at Welter even though a lot of my favourites are in the Lt Hvy division thinking of upcoming matches between Cotto, Clottey, Margarito, Berto, Williams, Quintana, Cintron and Mosley get me really excited.

  2. WELTERWEIGHT no doubt about it

  3. you can drop Judah from the welters.

from the light heavy - Hopkins is 43?, Calzaghe has lost A LOT from his game since the Kessler fight.  Tarver? I'll pass.  RJJ... um no... Glen Johnson...he should be retired.  Clinton Woods...oh, he's decent... but comparatively speaking, he would not make the same list if he were a welter.

Your light heavy division includes 4 guys who should be retired, and one more that should retire by the end of next year.

By far the welters are deaper.

  4. f*cking welterweight pancho villa!!!!

  5. Welterweight has definitely had the most exciting fights recently but I have to say light heavyweight has a little more depth because of additional names you haven't mentioned that are climbing the rankings. Adrian Diaconu (25-0) just beat Chris Henry and is the mandatory for Dawson's belt and Tavoris Cloud (19-0 18 KO's) who has amazing knock out power and recently beat former champ Julio Ceaser Gonzales; they can both make a big impact. Zsolt Erdei also has a win over Gonzales also and may be a contender and Shaun George a win over former heavyweight  champ Chris Byrd which is no small task. Also it seems the light heavyweights are willing to fight at catch weights as Hopkins has fought Winky Wright and will fight Pavlik in October. Jones Jr. fought Trinidad and there are talks of a Pavlik Calzaghe fight perhaps if both fighters win their upcoming fights.

  6. I would definitely say welterweight is deeper than light heavyweight. There are a couple of names at welterweight that were not even on the list, like Carlos Quintana, Luis Collazo, Jackson Bonsu, Kermit Cintron and even Jose Luis Castillo, though he maybe fading.
