  1. economics, you can make money in good times and bad


  2. Econ...if political trends change(and they ALWAYS do!) within government, you can always get a job as an accountant, math teacher etc. and work in the private sector as a trouble-shooter. Public policy jobs usually depend upon government funding.

  3. having a phd in anything is a lifelong ambition so either one is equal.

  4. economics ... a wider range of jobs become available when you have this degree .

  5. Economics. But getting a PhD in anything is pretty hard. So it's like, equal. But you get more money in economics. Usually.

  6. I think a Ph.D. in chemistry and physics would be worth a h**l of a lot more. Especially now that the science of alternative energy is becoming so important.
