I am a die-hard Margo fan, so obviously I can't even put into words how happy I am for that man right now. All these years he just wanted that one big fight to prove he belonged at the top of the division and all the so called 'champions' just ducked him (YES I AM TALKING ABOUT GAYWEATHER). Last night he finally got it and he showed what kind of a fighter he is!!!

Having said that though, there is a soft spot in my heart for the man on the other side of that beating. He came into this fight heralded as 'the next big thing' and pretty much crowned as one the greats coming out of PR. And now........well yeah, not so much.

I mean say what you will about Cotto taking two knees and basically conceding that he could not win, but at least the MAN took the fight. (LET'S NOT FORGET THAT GAYWEATHER ALSO REFUSED TO FIGHT COTTO!!!!!!!!!).

  1. good for both of them margarito finally defeated a great boxer and cotto was to cocky so this defeat brought him down from the clouds cotto is going to learn from this it's only going to make him a better boxer stop refereeing yourself as as third person maywheather also needs to be KO

  2. ermmm dont be careful dude like the first nob head that told you to be, i think your totaly right margarito deserved this fight, and if your super gayweather was fighting him last night floyd would have been dispatched by them bombs by round 5, mayweather is quick ok i give him that but he aint a quick boxer he is how ever a quick runner and thats all he does for 12 rounds, the most unexciting boxer in history, feel great for margarito and i always knew that cotto would be silenced because everyone on yahoo was jinxing him before the fight, already crowning cotto the so called best boxer on earth, well that movement was squashed

  3. I don't feel bad for Cotto.  I do feel good for Margarito.

Cotto was obviously well prepared for this fight, but styles make fights and Margo had the style that Cotto couldn't handle.  He may not be number one anymore, but he is a solid number two.  He will be back.  Being undefeated is a burden to any fighter.  Cotto handled it well.

Margo finally got his chance and he made the most of it.  He is now entitled to be the current Great Mexican Champion.  He deserves it.

Both guys did themselves proud last night.  Cotto will be back.  Margo hasn't gone away.

  4. was an awesome fight, and i have to say, margarito has a chin of iron, good lord, cotto as good as he is was just outclassed, but he is a really good fighter proberly the 2nd best in the division. and you can see why mayweather chose to retire, he would not want to fight either of these two warriors

  5. Careful bro.  I think the last thing you want is the slow-handed Margarito against super-fast Floyd.  Mayweather would have fended off most of the shots Margarito threw last night.  Speed kills.

I feel good for both, they got into the ring, had a fight, no excuses.  The better man won.  That's what is supposed to happen.  Neither man could ask for anything more.

  6. IT WAS A REALLY GOOD FIGHT ITS ABT TIME SOME 1 ****** UP COTTO DONT GET ME WRONG COTTO WAS GOOD BUT OWNESLY GAYWEATHER AS U CALL HIM SHOULD RETIRE B 4 THEY TAKE HIM OUT BUT MARGARITO NAH HIGHLY DOUGHT IT DONT GET ME WRONG MARGO PROVE HIM SELF AND EVERY 1 THAT HES 1 OF THE TOP 10

THE FIGHT I WOULD LIKE TO SEE IS MARQUEZ VS PAC MAN 2 MARQUEZ DESERVES IT DAMMIT!!!

  7. it's rito's turn that's all.

  8. This is great for Margarito and was a must win. After his loss to Paul Williams, even though he dominated Golden Johnson and Kermit Cintron (for the second time) there was some doubt about him. Beating the number one welterweight in the world erased all doubt and secured his place in boxing history. It just goes to show if you continue to plug along that you will eventually get your shot.

I don't think we need to feel bad about Cotto. He has had some close fights where he barely won and others where he got a late knock out to save him from a loss. He was undefeated coming in and one loss will not hurt him in the long run -- in fact it may inspire him to work harder and achieve greater things. Both fighters are great fighters and have good careers ahead of them. A rematch down the road would not be out of the question either. This opens up a whole new set of options for Antonio Margarito where he cannot be avoided any longer. All roads to the title stop at him.

  9. I feel extremely happy for Margarito and Mexico, Its been a long time coming for him. I'm mexican and a huge boxing fan and I normally dont like PR boxer cause they talk alot of smack and because of the rivalry. But I do have to admit that I did like Cotto for the fact that he didn't talk smack and just went into the ring and put in work with whoever was in there with him. He never ducked no one and the fact that he stood there in front of Margarito and didn't backed down, much respect. He's got the heart of lion and I'm glad the corner threw in the towel when they did, so he wouldn't be seriously hurt. Cotto could have easily jumped on his bike and ran from Margarito all night or busted a Camacho and hugged like a bithc, but he didn't he tried to trade and stand toe to toe, he just didn't have the power to back Margarito up.

    Cant wait for the rematch

  10. I feel better for Margarito......Cotto came off as kinda cocky to me, like he couldnt lose. Margarito was just more down to earth. They were both good fighters but I just felt better for Margarito for some reason.

  11. I like Cotto as a person. I felt bad for him. For the love of God, do not take your family ever to see you box any time any where. not a good idea. Boxing is a brutal sport and trust me your family will not see you as a big macho man if you let them see you hurt someone. cus there is a chance you will be the one hurt.

Cotto is a warrior like all PR boxers. he should stay active and I hope he will not get discouraged. he lost to a great champ and never ducked anyone yet...and that is the sign of a great champ..
