  1. I would go with the cobalt. Its American made, the Hyundai you would have to take it to a dealership anytime you have problems and their parts are more money, simply because they are foreign .BTW if your a U.S citizen, you would help strengthen our economy, and not theirs (China or whomever).Which would help strengthen our dollar to yen ratio and lower costs from globally traded markets, including gas prices.

  2. Although the others have a good point about "Made In America", there are other reasons you should choose the Cobalt. The Hyundai Accent has bad problems when it comes to the side-crash; it has an IIHS "Poor" rating, which is not favorable. The Cobalt and Hyundai Accent have similar reliability data from Consumer Reports. Neither car gets outstanding fuel economy, but the Cobalt's engine is more fun but noisy. The Cobalt also has a better ride. Both cars have OK quality and interiors and are outdone by some competitors.

However, you can probably bring down the price of a Cobalt to match a Hyundai Accent's anyway, and it is safer. Overall, the Cobalt is best for price and safety.

Have you considered a Honda Civic? Do remember, it too is designed (partially) in America. Many Civics sold in the USA come from East Liberty, Ohio, where a Honda Factory powers the local economy. It has much better reliability than these two choices along with a cheap (but not cheaper) price, better fuel economy, better interior and overall quality as well as much sportier traits. (Agile, good handling) It also looks great.

    Hope this helps!

  3. none of the above.

the Hyundai Elantra & Santa Fe are great.

    avoid the accent & tiburon

After getting a total makeover for 2007, the 2008 Hyundai Elantra adds more standard equipment including Electronic Stability Control on SE, Brake Assist to the SE and a tire-pressure-monitoring system on all trims. The Elantra SE Premium and Leather Package replace the Elantra Limited.

a cobalt is slightly better than the chevy cavalier it replaced but just barely.

  4. These 2 are in different classes, the Chevy Aveo competes with the Accent.  The Cobalt competes with the Hyundai Elantra.  The Elantra is by far the best of the 4 I just named and a Consumer Reports best buy, beating out the Corolla and Civic.  Hyundai is ranked much higher then Chevy in reliability by JD Power and Consumer Reports and the resale value of the Elantra is excellent.  Take the Elantra for a test drive, you'll end up driving it home, bigger more power and better fuel economy then the Accent for a few thousand dollars more, money well spent.

  5. American made Cobalt.

  6. Cobalt
