I think tan breeches keep you cool, but show all the dirt from riding, I really want dark or navy blue so no dirt shows up, but I heard they make you really hot. Which do you prefer? My friend wears dark blue and purple riding pants, but she's away at a horse show right now so I can't ask her!

  1. honestley i would get the lighter ones because you could always just wash them after you use them and is camoflauging the dirt really worth the heat ?

  2. i just like wearing a good ole pair of jeans

  3. For shows you should ALWAYS where tan breeches.  Even at local shows where it doesn't even matter much you should still where tan ones.  However, for practice you can where any color.  i have brown, blue, black, purple, pink, and brown ones with horses on them.  lol.  you can have any color you want.  I prefere black ones.  But if i had to pick tan or dark blue then i would say tan.

  4. I don't compete and I like the dark colours. I don't like stuff that shows the dirt instantly and I do seem to be totally unable to keep clean around the horses, I think they see it as a challenge.

Also darker colours are much more flattering - lucky you if you don't have to consider that aspect.

Edit> no, I don't get really hot in them.

  5. tan pants/white are more "official" in showing and everything. Your NOT EVER supposed to show in blue/colored pants. its really about how comfortable you are--not how you look. i'd rather look like c**p than feel dead from the heat. in the end, i perfer tan, but i wear jeans most of the time...haha.

  6. If your going to show you have to wear tan,or white breeches.

I'd go for the tan ones.

  7. Blue, depending on the shade of blue but I personally wear banana sticky bums and would recommend them to everyone they are sooo comfy.

  8. well for shows they have to be tan or beige...for schooling i prefer grey breeeches you can get them at www.doversaddlery.com

  9. For training, you can wear whatever you like. I would probably wear some neon greens or something. But for showing, I would definitely keep to tans.

  10. It depends on the purpose.  If for use just around the barn and not for showing I wear dark color jods (Kentucky for saddleseat)...they definitely hide the dirt.  I have light ones too and they are for practice but they do get dirty.

As far as heat..for me, it doesn't matter..when it is hot outside..it's hot !!  But I think the fabric you choose would be the best to determine comfort and temperature.  I have jean jods and they are soooo hot.  I have heavy stretchy ones like breeches and they are really comfy because they stretch alot and maybe because they are so comfy..I don't feel that hot in them.

So, in the end, I think being comfortable more so than color (I wear a lot of black) is the main factor.  Except for the dirty factor.
