Which do you prefer? Garmin or TomTom?

I know this has been asked, but I want and updated answer from those who actually are using them.

i bought my b/f a tom-tom.....i like it ...but then again ive never messed with a garmin

I've always preferred Garmin equipment. I had a look at the Tom Toms but found the displays to be a bit too "Cartoonish" for me, but I realize that is up to the person looking at it. Functional wise both companies provide units that should do whatever you want with them.

When I was looking to buy a GPS I checked out alot of them, including TomTom and Garmin. The one I actually went with was the company that makes the internal components for both. Mio. I got the Mio DigiWalker C230. It has all the options I was looking for like text-to-speech (says the name of the road) and many others for about half of what the others cost. I used it to go from NJ to Wisconsin without one glitch, even through Chicago.
