    I think lila is prettier but lydia sounds like a softer name. i like lydia better

    Comparing the two:

    Lydia is more timeless

    Lila is more of a trend

    Lydia sounds a bit more intelligent

    Lila sounds a bit more pretty

    (not to say one isn't the other!)

    Lydia would pretty much always be spelled right

    Lila not also so (Lilah, Leila, maybe even Layla)

    Meaning:

    Lydia - city in Greece

    Lila - short of Delilah (name in Bible?) or Lila (lilac/violet in German)

    btw, I always see it as Lila in German (pronounced Lee-la)
