  1. I lived in the Houston area for four years back in the late 80's early 90's. I have lived in Dallas since '92. I believe Dallas wins hands down. While Houston certainly has it's attractive qualities, the climate is really uncomfortable in the summer. Add to that the specter of hurricanes from June to November. I can't count the number of time Buffalo Bayou flooded when I was there. The Houston Metro area still suffers from the days when it never really had much in the way of zoning laws. Everything seems just so thrown together in Houston.

DFW, on the other hand, is quite a bit more comfortable in the summer time. The humidity is not as high as it is in Houston, so close to the Gulf of Mexico. The winters are very mild as well. DFW gets a lot of national attention with top-notch professional sports, a very healthy economy and a lifestyle that suits me better than when I lived in Houston. You have your pick of a dozen recreational lakes in the area. Fort Worth, Arlington and Dallas all have very active entertainment districts and museums. If you need to travel, you're right in the middle of the country with a DFW Airport, Alliance Airport and Love Field just minutes away.
