  1. Austin, TX! Because I love the weather, the people are great, University of Texas Football, 6th street, outdoors activities like hiking the green belt, everything! It's hip and metro but there are still old and historic places mixed in with it all. There are festivals all year round: SXSW, pecan street festival, weiner dog races, Austin City Limits, just to name a few. Love it all.

  2. They both have their pluses, but I think I would prefer to live in Austin, due to the consistently nice weather, the Tex-Mex food availability, and the easy access to various outdoor activities.

  3. Austin has its charms: warm weather year-round, cheaper, lower crime in general, has a great bar and music scene, and is a very green city with lots of nearby outdoor space.

But the city also has its disadvantages: no public transportation besides buses, the city is not very walkable except for the downtown area around UT and you would most likely need to buy a car just to run simple errands, and the worst problem of all (for me at least) is having to live in Texas in general. D.C. is very integrated with the rest of the northeast corridor cities and is very easy to get to Baltimore, Philly, and NYC. The only thing around Austin is, well, Texas.

To me, Austin is a very nice college city and if I had to live in Texas, it would definitely be top choice; however, I just can't give up the East Coast and all the culture and history D.C. has to offer.
