I have decided on buying a new inkjet printer.

I was just wondering which you would recommend:

HP inkjet printers OR Brother inkjet printers?

  1. HP printers less expensive on ink. My HP all-in-one is 6 years old and still works fine to this very day. I've had other printer before my HP and won't change brands when this printer finally dies on me. I work in an IT department and the only printers we buy asre HP cause they last a long time.

  2. HP  Less expensive on ink and easy to refill yourself.

  3. Check OfficeMax, they have a sale on 6-1 printer from $100 to $50, plus you can get $30 gas credit for Arco - if you can sell the card or use it, then it will only cost you $20 - sale ends this Saturday. It comes with inks. You might want to get your ink from eBay when you run out or before you run out. For color and B&W, it would cost an average of $7.50 for both on a 3 packs. MFC 240c is the model.

  4. HP, HP, HP......!!!!!

Oh Brother, don't bother to buy a Brother!

  5. As someone who was in the computer hardware business for years (though I rarely sold printers since I couldn't compete with the crazy rebates) I have always recommended Epson. The print quality is excellent, even on plain paper. I have photos I printed on a 640 about ten years ago hanging in my office which still look good, though not as good as the ones from the CX8400 on glossy paper. The warranty is excellent. For a year, Epson will express-ship a replacement and pick up the old one. I had one customer who needed this. He called one afternoon and had the replacement two days later. Another client bought a Canon. It needed two repairs within a few months. Each time it was taken to the repair center, then picked up a few days later. This client runs a specialty printing business and this really hurt. They have since bought an Epson CX5000 and have had no down time since.

All name brand ink is expensive, but you can get cheap new replacement cartridges for Epson (not refills which I never recommend) for under $5 at http://ccs-digital.com/ink.asp   I have been using these for years.

The C120 (printer only - no scanner) is on sale at Ritz Camera free after rebate but you must also buy a digital camera. The cheapest is $15. With $7 shipping you pay $22 for printer and camera.  It uses 3 colors and 2 of the SAME black cartridge.

    A set of 5 cartridges are $25 at http://ccs-digital.com/ink.asp

The CX8400 scanner/copier/printer was on sale at circuitcity.com for $60 with free shipping. It uses the same 3 colors plus one black.

The NX400 which uses the same cartridges is on sale at Staples for $75.

The RX595 scanner/copier/printer also prints on DVDs. It uses 5 colors plus black and has even higher photo quality. You can get it at Ritz Camera for $45 after rebate (with digital camera) or for $80 after $55 instant rebate.

  6. I have a question. Why do you want to buy an inkjet printer. What sence does that make. Why would you want to buy a printer were every 100 prints it needs ANOTHER 30 dollar cartrige. I am sugesting that you get a laser printer. In fact not HP or a Brother but a Dell. Because Dell Comes with North american laser printer support. And Laser printers will go 2000 prints before needing a new toner cartrige.
